Student Leadership
“A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader, a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
Student Leadership
Lakeside Secondary College has a strong tradition of student leadership. Students are chosen to fill the following positions on the basis of demonstrated leadership skills:
- College Captains (Year 12)
- Music and Sport Captains (Year 12)
- Junior School Captains (Year 9)
- Junior School VIce Captains (Year 9)
Student Representative Council
As a member of the Lakeside Secondary College community, every student is encouraged to lead and develop leadership in others from the classroom to a whole school level. The Student Representative Council is comprised of students elected from each year level in the school and meets fortnightly to ensure that students have a strong voice in the school community. Each year School Captains are chosen from Year 12 and Year 9 to be formal ambassadors for the school.
Mentoring
At the start of each year, our Year 11 students take on the role of Peer Mentor for our new Year 7 students. The Peer Mentors meet with Year 7 students and, guided by our Student Welfare Coordinator, lead them through a program that helps them form new friendships and feel confident about secondary school. The Peer Mentors maintain their role supporting students throughout Years 7 and 8.
SRC Coordinator
Demi Flessa leads the Student Representative Council.
